Young Prevails in Rose Bowl Rematch

by Cody Clark ~ November 30th, 2009.

In the seventh game of the season, the Tennessee Titans sat at a league worst 0-6 and made the switch from Kerry Collins to the 2006 Rose Bowl winning quarterback Vince Young and the rest, up till now, is history. They had foura row prior to yesterday’s showdown with the Matt Leinartled Arizona Cardinals. (Warner was out with a concusion) Tennessee held the 6-3 lead at the half and extended the lead with a Chris Johnson 85 yard TD run, but the Cards would wrestle the lead back as LaRod Stephens-Howling returned a kick 99 yards for a TD and Tim Hightower scored from a yard out to take thelead 17-13. Then with a little over two minutes and thirty seconds left in the game, Vince and the Titans took the ball on an 18 play, 99 yard drive that cummulated with a Vince Young TD pass to rookie wideout Kenny Britt as time expired, similar tothe 2006 Rose Bowl, where Young led Texas down the field and scored on a 4th and 5 run from the USC 8-yard line to beat Matt Leinart and the USC Trojans. Now at 5-6, the Titans havevastly increased their playoff chances as they get the likes of the Colts, Chargers, Seahawks, Rams, and Dolphins the rest of the way.
