Week For The Woeful
by Cody Clark ~ October 19th, 2009.Week 6 in the NFL proved to be an interesting one. The Saints dominated the Giants 48-27, the Patriots demolished the 0-6 Titans 59-0, and the Vikings barely escaped the Ravens behind the arm of Brett Favre. But it was also an interesting week for the league’s teams that are at the bottom of the barrel. The Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Washington Redskins, and I must admit, I thought that the Redskins were going to pass all over them with Santana Moss, but they held him to one 42 yard catch, and behind 4 field goals from Mr. Irrelevant Ryan Succop and a safety from DT Tamba Hali the Chiefs and 1st year coach Todd Haley grabbed their first win in the ‘09 season. There was also a good game going in St. Louis, where the Rams tied the game behind Josh Brown’s 27 yard field goal with four seconds left. For a minute there, I thought that the Rams were going to get their first win, but the Jags got a game winning field goal that gave them a 23-20 win in overtime. This was a moral victory for the Rams, as they have been close to wins in two games. The Buccaneers also had a good game, as they are also one of the teams seeking their first win off the season. Down by 14 in the 4th, the Bucs returned a kick for a TD and also scored another that tied the game at 21-21. But the Panthers drove down the field and score with 30 seconds left. Even thought they lost, it showed guts on their part coming from 14 down in the final stanza, and I think that they are going to win at least a couple of games this season. This has been a weird season so far, with a great team and an awful team in each division, and I foresee that thinks will pretty much stay the same, but some of these lowly teams are going to find some ways to win a few.
