Ware Stymies Saints Bid

by Cody Clark ~ December 20th, 2009.

The New Orleans Saints bid for their first undefeated season in franchise history was stifled Saturday night at home by DeMarcus Ware and the visiting Dallas Cowboys. Ware, who was questionable coming in with a neck strain, sacked Dew Brees twice and forced two fumbles to help seal Dallas’ second win all-time against an undefeated team. Behind to Marion Barber touchdown runs, the Dallas Cowboys took a commanding 24-3 lead over the Saints into the fourth quarter, but the Saints were not ready to give up just yet. Mike Bell and Lance Moore each scored for the Saints within four minutes and just like that, they had cut the Cowboy lead to one score 24-17. With the Saints driving, Ware sealed the game for Dallas with a forced fumble of Drew Brees in the final 30 seconds as they spoiled New Orleans’ bid for an undefeated season. The Saints now have their backs against the wall, as they have not clinched home field yet and one loss allows for Minnesota to make an attempt at home field advantage. The Saints will win their remaining games, and will be pulling for the Vikings to loss to either Carolina, Chicago, or the Giants the rest of the way.
