UCF Shocks #15 Houston 37-32 on Homecoming
by Cody Clark ~ November 14th, 2009.The Houston Cougars came into this contest with a record of 8-1 riding one of the hottest quarter backs in the nation in Case Keenum. Keenum came into the game 185 yards from 4,000 on the season, and had tossed 28 touchdowns. (He would throw for 377 and three scores in the game) Off to their best 9 game start in 19 years, Houston was looking to continue to roll with the Central Florida Knights up next. The Cougars jumped out to an early 17-3 lead, the Knights would begin to chip away at that lead in the third stanza riding running back Brynn Harvey who rushed for scores of 1 and 41 yards in that quarter. He would add another rushing score in the fourth, but the Case Keenum magic began around the 3:40 mark of the final quarter as Keenum tossed two scores in the final 3:29 to cut the UCF lead to 5 points but the on side kick failed and the Knights escaped with a win as they know become bowl eligible for the third time in the last four years. RB Brynn Harvey had a monster outing, torching the lowly Cougar defense for 139 yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries. Now sitting at 6-4, the UCF Knights have Tulane and UAB left on their schedules, and I suspect that they will at least grab one more win this season as they look to finish out strong for veteran coach George O’Leary.
