If you did not see the 2009 All-Star Homerun Derby, you did not miss much. There were barely any homeruns hit, and there was not any one person that stood out as Josh Hamilton did last year at Yankee Stadium. Brandon Inge of the Tigers put up a goose egg on the board (although the last one was just foul) and as for the supposed slugger from San Diego, Gonzalez put up two dingers and was ousted in the first round. I was really hoping that Nelson Cruz would win because that would have been a cool thing seeing as it was his first All-Star game and Derby contest. The only drama (if you could call it that) was when three players tied at 5 dingers to move on and they had to have a swing off. But I congradulate Price Fielder on his first Derby win (even if there was no competition besides Cruz) and look forward to the 2nd half of the season.
