Sox Busy at the Deadline
by Cody Clark ~ July 31st, 2009.Before this year’s trade deadline, the Boston Red Sox have been a very active team. Making a lot of moves have caused the Red Sox to do some shuffling this season. The first move that they got done was shipping Julio Lugo and cash to St. Louis for Chris Duncan and a player to be named later. Then, the Red Sox acquired Adam LaRoche from the Pirates for Hunter Strickland and Argenis Diaz. They then traded Mark Kotsay to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Brian Anderson, who had been asked to be traded earlier in the week. Then today, Boston received Victor Martinez from the Indians for Justin Masterson, Brian Price, and Nick Hagadone. They then shipped LaRoche, whom they just traded for, to Atlanta in exchange for Casey Kotchman. I think that the Red Sox have done a good job this deadline to improve their team. They have really been struggling as of late, and I think that some of these moves that they have made are really going to help them down the stretch as they try and catch the division leading Yankees and win their 7th division title and look for their 13th AL Pennant.
