Gamecock Defense Stifles Wolkpack Offense
by Cody Clark ~ September 4th, 2009.On a night where neither of the offenses could get anything going, the South Carolina Gamecock defense flexed their muscles as they only allowed 133 total yards of offense on their way to an opening game win and a 1-0 record on the season as they beat the NC State Wolfpack. (But, of course, it is not like the Wolfpack offense offense is that great either!) As far as the offense for the Gamecocks goes, Garcia had a rough night as he went 13-22 for 148 yards and a pick. Most of the damage done on offense for SC was on the ground, as they rushed for 108 yards on 42 carries to eat up alot of the clock. Brian Maddox had 23 carries for 66 yards and the only touchdown of the ball game, and Moe Brown had three grabs for 54 yards as the Gamecocks got off to a good start to the season with a win. South Carolina next plays between the hedges at #13 Georgia, and if they can get a little offense going, I think that they might have a chance to knock off the Bulldogs.
