Red Sox Bolster Pen with Wagner

by Cody Clark ~ August 25th, 2009.

After reports that Billy Wagner was not going to go to the Red Sox after all, one hour before the waiver deadline, Billy Wagner decided that he wanted to pitch for a contender, and agreed to go the BoSox. The Sox agreed that they would not pick up his 2010 option, and basically, the Red Sox are paying his $8 million dollar salary for the rest of this year, and then he will be let go. Although against Jonathan Papelbon’s wishes, the Boston Red Sox have made a move that can definitely help out their pen down the stretch, and can hopefully increase their chances of winning the wild card and make a run at the world series.
