Pujols Breakes out of Slump
by Cody Clark ~ August 5th, 2009.Since the All Star break, the best hitter in baseball has been struggling. Since the break, Pujols has been batting .226 with 2 homers and 5 RBIs. Last night however, “The Machine” broke out of his mini slump with four hits, 2 HRs, and 5 RBIs. His first homer came in the eighth with the Cards down 7-4 to make it 7-5. Then in his next at bat in the 10th with the bases juiced Albert hit his 5th grand slam of this young season, tying him with Ernie Banks’ singe season mark set in 1955. He is absolutely on fire this year, with 36 homers and 97 RBIs and a .321 average. His numbers are also the best in the bigs with the bases loaded, batting .778 with 5 grand slams and 24 RBI and a 2.444 SLG %. These numbers prove that he is the bet hitter in baseball and I can not wait to see what his closing season statistics are. (Maybe in the neighborhood of 50 or 60 homers and 150 RBIs?)
