Mitchell and LSU Clinch CWS

by Cody Clark ~ June 25th, 2009.

It was  Jared Mitchell who started the game off pretty well for the LSU Tigers, as he hit a three-run home run to give the Tigers a 3 run lead in the very first inning of play last night at the final game of the College World Series in Omaha. Then in the second inning LSU added another run to make the score 4-0. But, as Texas as done all year, they came back with two in the third and then a 2 run homer off the bat of Kevin Keyes to tie the game at 4 each. That is when LSU decided that they were going to shut Texas down for the rest of the game and clinch the school’s sixth title in the past 20 years. (30% success rate=pretty darn good) In the top of the 6th inning, the Tigers scored 5 runs to bust the game open and take the title right out from under the Longhorn’s nose.

All-Tournament Team: Cameron Rupp, Russell Moldenhauer and Taylor Jungmann of Texas; Dustin Ackley and Kyle Seager of North Carolina; Kole Calhoun of Arizona St., and Tyler Cannon of Virginia, and Jared Mitchell, Ryan Schimpf, D.J LeMahieu, and Anthony Renaudo of LSU.
