Kentucky Prevails in the Battle of the Blue
by Cody Clark ~ December 5th, 2009.Behind outstanding performances from freshman John Wall and Patrick Patterson, the Kentucky Wildcats survived a late North Carolina surge to improve to 8-0. Up 43-28 at halftime, the Wildcats allowed the Tar Heels to get back in the game as UNC outscored them 38-25 in the second half; but John Wall iced the game with two free throws with 4 seconds left on the clock to down the previously #11 ranked and now 7-2 Heels. John Wall clogged the stat sheet for Calipari and the #4 ranked team, as he posted 16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals and fellow swing-man Patrick Patterson scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds as the Wildcats survived at home.
