Do you think that Scott Boras is hurting the game of baseball? For those of you who do not know who Boras is, he is a one of the premiere agents in the sport of baseball with over 75 clients in the majors alone! He has some of the most high profile players under his wing, including A-Roid, Manny Ramirez, Mark Texeira, Barry Zito, and Matt Holliday. For years, Scott Boras has gotten some of his clients to sign on to some major contracts, like A-Rod’s 10 year, $252 million deal. I think that some of these deals are hurting the game of baseball and many of the small market teams like the Kansas City Royals and the Cincinnati Reds. Boras and his clients demand  such large contracts, that it practically rules out over two thirds of the teams in the bidding, which leads to a large number of non-competitive teams every year. I just think that some of these players are getting contracts that are worth way more than they have earned, and it causes great parity in the sport. You have to give credit to the teams like the Rockies, Marlins, and Giants who usually never get top name players, but they always field decent, competitive teams to compete with those big name teams that can sign the guys to contracts that are worth more than some of the team’s payrolls in the major leagues.
