NBA Holiday Hoops
by Cody Clark ~ December 25th, 2009.As kids all around the world got up early in order to open their Christmas gifts and celebrate the holiday, Kobe, LeBron, Dwight Howard, Dwayne Wade got their respective teams ready for some Christmas hoops. The early match-up pitted the Heat and Wade going against David Lee and the Knicks. Dwayne Wade posted 30 points for the Heat, and Michael Beasley added 19 as the Heat began the holiday off well escaping with a 98-87 victory in the Garden. Danilo Gallinari led the late charge and paced the Knicks with 26, but did not have enough left in the tank a they fell by 6 and now fall to 11-18 overall. In Orlando, the Magic took on the Paul Pierce-less Celtics in a promising match up. After a tight first quarter, the Magic only managed 8 points the entire second quarter, which proved costly as they lost 86-77. Vince Carter dropped 27 in the losing effort, and Ray Allen paced the Celts with 18 points including 40% from beyond the arc. The 5 o’clock NBA game pitted the Los Angeles Lakers against the Cleveland Cavaliers; Kobe versus LeBron. Kobe got the better of LeBron scoring-wise, but the Cavs came away with the win on the road by a count of 102-87 improving to 23-8 on this young season. This Christmas Holiday was filled with great joy, and the winning teams on this given weekend got a few extra “good tidings” as they brought a win back to their respective towns.
