He’s Back!

by Cody Clark ~ August 14th, 2009.

Two years since his departure from the league on being indicted on dogfighting charges, Michael Vick is back in the NFL. The news broke late last night that Vick had signed a two year deal worth a total $6.6 million with the second year being an option. There were some teams that were reportedly interested in Michael, and his advisor Tony Dungy had said that he expected something to get done at the end of the week. But what is kind of shocking is that the Eagles were one of the teams that had originally said that they were not interested in signing the ex Falcons QB. Anyhow, Vick has now been conditionally reinstated by the league and reports are that he could possibly be reinstated and start playing as early as week 6 of the 2009 NFL season. I am surprised that someone was willing to take the chance on Vick, but I think that it was the right thing to do in letting him have a second chance in the league. Granted he did some very bad things, but he has paid the price and done his time, serving 18 months in jail, two months of home confinement, and losing a ton when he filed for bankruptcy. Of all the places that could have signed him, I think that they eagles are a good fit for him because offensive coordinator Marty Mourningwig and his former coordinator with the Falcons were best friends. They run the same plays, and run the same style of offense in the west coast offense and that is something that Vick knows pretty well from playing in Atlanta. All in all, decent signing for the Eagles that gives them more weapons on their team. It will be interesting to see how it turns out with this situation in Philly.

The Eagles are just a classic band….how many bands are still as popular more than 30 years after they first formed? Not too many that’s for sure!
