Halladay or Lee?
by Cody Clark ~ July 29th, 2009.If you had to choose, who would you take? It is a tough decision. Both are very good pitchers, but both of them are in their 30s. They both are the aces on their respective staffs, and, apparently, they both require you to unload on prospects for. Today, Cliff Lee was traded along with Ben Francisco to the Phillies for prospects Carlos Carrasco, Jason Knapp, Lou Marson, and Jason Donald. The Phillies were originally pushing for Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, but they then realized that they could still get a good pitcher without having to give up their top tier of prospects. The Phillies did not have to give up their top three prospects in Drabeck, Taylor, and Brown like they likely would have had to of done to get Roy to come to Philly. I, personally, would like to have Halladay, but I would definately be happy to get someone like Lee if it meant not giving up your top young talent. I think that this was a good deal that makes the Phillies a much better team pitching-wise and can allow them to contend with the Dodgers if it comes down to a NLCS series for a chance to go to the World Series.
