Crabtree to Sit Out?
by Cody Clark ~ August 6th, 2009.Scenario. You are drafted #10 overall to the San Francisco 49ers and have just come off of one of your better years in college with 1,165 yards and 19 TD grabs. NFL training camps are opening up, but you decide to hold out for more money? It has probably been one of his dreams since his childhood to play in the NFL, yet he is willing to sit out a year and re-entering the draft just because he is not getting paid as much as Darius Heyward-Bey? Come on! Most of the college athletes would die to be in your position, getting drafted 10th overall in a sport that they love, yet you are willing to risk setting back your career as a pro receiver 2-3 years and possibly shorten it just to add a couple million extra to your contract. It does not make any sense to me that you would risk a career for a big contract. The secondaries that you face in college do not even stack up to the ones in the pros; on top of the fact that it is going to take at least a year to adjust to the professional game anyway. I understand that it is a greed stricken world, but I think that this is a very bad move for Michael Crabtree and could cost him a lot more in the long run.
