After her obscene remark to the line judge in her semi-final match in which she supposedly threatened to take a tennis ball and shove it down her throat, the top womens tennis player in the world Serena Williams was charged with a fine and a loss in the match. In a bizarre end to the match, Serena Williams was first charged with a foot fault to put the game at double match point for Kim Clijsters. Clearly upset with the call, Serena Williams then proceeded to steadily walk toward the line judge and threaten her with a pointed finger and all. The judge then walked over the the umpires chair, told them what happened, and Serena was given a point penalty which cost her the match. (It cost her the point because she had already been given a warning for breaking a racquet in the first) This story really covers up wat we should be talking about with that match in that Clijsters outdueled the top seed in women’s tennis. Kim had her game going all night and was the real reason that she defeated Serena Williams in that match.

The 2009 Wimbledon Championship. Andy Roddick had been on fire. Seriously; Federer had not broken his serve at all in the entire last set and the score was tied at 14 apiece. With one of his 50 aces in the match, Roger finally broke Roddick’s serve and had taken the huge 15-14 advantage. At that point, I knew that Roger Federer was going to do what ever it took and win that last game to close out his 15th Grand Slam title. Of course, I think that the real story is in Andy Roddick. The day before the championship game, Roddick played one of the best games of his life, coming from behind to defeat the #3 seed Andy Murray. It didn’t seem fair that Andy had to turn around the next day and likely play the best game of his life to beat the the best tennis player in the world. I have to admit that I was pulling for Roddick. Do you know what a Wimbledon Title would have meant to that guy being his first Wimbledon Championship? There is no doubt in any one’s mind that Andy Roddick played the premiere game of his career on Sunday, and second place just does not do justice to what Andy accomplished in this year’s Wimbledon Championship Game.
