Baltimore Obliterates New England

by Cody Clark ~ January 11th, 2010.

Despite the inept passing game, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the New England Patriots by rushing for 234 yards and all the Ravens’ touchdowns. By the time the Patriots looked at the scoreboard after the first 5 minutes of the game ticked away, they were already down 14-0. Having never lost a playoff game at home, the Patriots needed some help if they wanted to get back in the game, and franchise quarterback Tom Brady did not provide much of that as he threw for less than 155 yards and tossed three costly interceptions and fumbled once. The Ravens jumped out of the gate ready to run the ball down the Pats throats, as they opened the game with seven straight runs totaling 104 yards and two scores, one of which was an 83 yard touchdown run by running back Ray Rice on the opening play of the game. Rice finished the game with 159 yards and two scores on 22 carries as the Ravens won for the first time ever at Gillette Stadium in the playoffs. The Patriots were, from the start, completely out of the game and the Ravens advance to play the Colts next week in the first playoff game ever in Lucas Oil Stadium.
