Pudge sets a Record (I-Rod?)
by Cody Clark ~ June 18th, 2009.On June 17th, the Houston Astros catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez made history when he suited up for his 2,227th career game behind the plate, surpassing the long held mark (2,226) of Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk. Pudge also has 13 Gold Gloves throughout his career,along with 14 All-Star appearances and an MVP award to add to, what I believe to be, his Hall of Fame worthy career. It is hard to get up everyday and keep up the energy and passion to play in 2,227 games through an entire career. Not to mention at catcher, which is a pretty brutal position to catch play in all those games at one position. Ivan will continue to catch this year, and I believe that this is one of those records that will hold up for many years to come.
