Cardinal pitcher Jaime Garcia held the Mets to no hits through six innings, while Mets starter Johan Santanna only allowed 4 hits through seven innings. Each team did not manage to plate any runs until the 18th inning, but the Mets got one in the 19th, and one in the 20th which proved to be the game winner; a sac fly off of the bat of Jose Reyes.
